Absolutely. Unless you opt out, Board Certified members receive regular information-packed newsletters with exciting career-related articles and reference links.
If you are qualified for Board Certification and membership, you'll receive an attractive, official certificate that's suitable for framing. You may immediately begin promoting the fact that you're Board Certified. If it will enhance your career, you may sign your name, Susan Jones, ABCP (for American Board of Certified Professoinals) or, say, Ronald Lufkin, ABCC (American Board of Certified Chaplains), etc. You'll also immediately be eligible for discounted continuing education classes or studies toward bachelors, masters, or doctorate degrees at participating colleges.
Provisional certification and membership is available when professionals need or desire certification quickly but are awaiting documents from former jobs, previous education, references, etc. Provisional Certification may be issued for up to 60-days. Please feel free to email us or contact our administrative offices for a consultation.
Physicians have the AMA, Social Workers have the National Association of Social Workers, nurses have the American Nurses Association, etc. While we will Board Certify qualified candidates from fields that already have associations, our mission has been to establish a credentialing system for "Tier 2" professionals.
For example, while social workers have the excellent NASW and psychologists have the well thought of APA, we're here to serve the thousands of "Next Tier" mental health professionals such as Mental Health Techs, Psych Nursing Assistants, Mental Health Home Visit counselors, Case Managers, etc.
The American Board of Certifed Professionals is a government-chartered not-for-profit umbrella agency that oversees numerous other professional boards. We offer membership and board certification to dozens of important but under-represented professions in the U.S. If you belong to a career group not immediately identified here on this website, please feel free to contact us and we'll give you a no-obligation consultation concerning the appropriate credentialing association for your particular field of endeavor

The education program offered to our members is vast, perhaps rivaling that of any other professional association. We offer Continuing Education lessons, Certificate lessons, even bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees through cooperatating colleges. Because each member's career path and educational background is unique, just email us and tell us what sort of educational enrichment appeals to you. We'll gladly work with you to assemble a pertinent and affordable online program tailor-made to your needs.
Board Certification is not intended to qualify you for state licensure, regardless of your association membership. Our certification is designed to acknowledge and validate those who have special career achievements and/or excellent training and educational backgrounds. Board Certification is designed to help showcase your unique qualifications as measured against others in your profession. It may well help you obtain more clients, be considered for a promotion, or highlight your credentials among your peers. But, to obtain a state license, you would have to meet the criteria of your particular state for your profession. (For example, to obtain a real estate broker's license, your state may first require completion of classroom work coupled with one year of service as a realty sales associate.)
Yes. Depending on which American Board of Certified Professionals association you join, there may be levels such as:
1) Provisional
2) Student
3) Associate
4) Professional Membership
5) Diplomat
Each would have its own qualifications in terms of professional experience and ongoing education in your chosen field.
Yes. Each area of Board Certification offers a certificate appropriate for the specialty. Examples: Chaplaincy, Cosmotology, Nursing, etc. The picture of the certificate is merely an illustration...your certificate will be worded in accordance with your career field.
